Hi Enrico,

a sidenote first: John suggested to copy the whole GnuPG directory. You may do
so but that would copy settings aswell which I wanted to avoid to have defined
conditions.

What I suggest to do:
(1) on the old machine with a working EM
  gpg -a --export-secret-key [your_key_id_or_name] >my_exported_s+p-key.gpg
  gpg -a --export [your_key_id_or_name] >>my_exported_s+p-key.gpg
(2) on the new machine with a clean user profile prior to installing EM
  gpg --import my_exported_s+p-key.gpg

Yes. You NEED your old secret key on the new machine anyway if you want to be
able to decrypt your old emails!
